Doctor’s visits by phone or video anytime

Many providers can give you advice over the phone or see you by video. Call your doctor and ask if they provide telephone or video visits. This service is fully covered by HPSM and can help protect you and others from being exposed to viruses. If you need a language interpreter, your doctor can get a phone or video interpreter for both in-person and telemedicine visits. This includes video interpreters for American Sign Language (ASL) assistance.

Note: not all appointments can be completed by phone because your doctor may need to exam you in person. Your doctor will tell you if your needs can be met by a phone or video visit.

HPSM is partnering with Teladoc®, a telemedicine service that allows eligible members to talk directly with doctors by phone or video anytime at no cost.

HPSM and Teladoc

Teladoc is available to select HPSM Medi-Cal, CareAdvantage and Healthworx members who:

  • Do not have an assigned primary care provider (PCP)
  • Have a PCP that does not offer phone or video appointments

All Teladoc doctors are U.S. board-certified internists, family doctors and pediatricians licensed to practice medicine in California. They are able to diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications for non-emergency health issues. This service is a great option for eligible members who otherwise would not be able to see their doctor in the office. Members can also choose to send their Teledoc visit summaries to their PCP to make sure all medical records are up to date.
