HPSM has provided major funding for a San Mateo County-wide program from Vision To Learn, a nonprofit organization that provides the glasses children need to succeed in school and in life. The County of San Mateo provided $300,000 in Measure K funding to help launch the project, administered through HPSM. “The Health Plan of San Mateo is proud to help connect students in need to critical vision care by partnering with Vision To Learn," said HPSM CEO Patrick Curran. "This intervention will provide thousands of students with the glasses they need to see clearly at school and build a bridge to a lifetime of quality optometric care."

Upward Health’s HomeAdvantage contract to provide home-based, whole-person health services to CareAdvantage enrollees of the Health Plan of San Mateo (HPSM) in California began in January 2022. The CareAdvantage program serves residents of San Mateo County with complex medical, behavioral, and social challenges who are eligible for both Medicare and Medi-Cal (California’s Medicaid program).

In September 2021, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) released its 2021 Health Plan Ratings. Health Plan of San Mateo (HPSM) received 4 out of 5 in NCQA’s Medicaid Health Plan Ratings for 2021.

This CHCS profile details HPSM's experiences as a participant in California’s Cal MediConnect financial alignment demonstration.
