Dental Benefit Changes

Members who are pregnant or within one year after the end of pregnancy and with “unsatisfactory immigration status”

Your full dental coverage with HPSM Dental will continue until December 31, 2026.

Between January 1 and June 30, 2027, You will have full dental coverage through Medi-Cal Dental Fee-for-Service. This coverage will continue while you are pregnant and up to one year after the end of a pregnancy.

What happens after June 30 if more than a year has passed since the end of a pregnancy?

Starting July 1, 2027, you may keep your full dental coverage through Medi-Cal Dental Fee-for-Service, if you:

  • Are pregnant or within one year of the end of a pregnancy. This coverage will continue while you are pregnant and up to one year after the end of a pregnancy.
  • Are under the age of 19. This coverage will continue until your 19th birthday or up to one year after the end of a pregnancy, whichever comes later. Learn more

Starting July 1, 2027, you will be covered for emergencies only through Medi-Cal Dental Fee-for-Service if more than a year has passed since the end of a pregnancy.

To notify Medi-Cal about a new pregnancy, delivery of a baby or change in immigration status, contact San Mateo County HSA.
