Ian Johansson

Chief Government Affairs and Compliance Officer

Ian Johansson joined the Health Plan of San Mateo (HPSM) as Chief Compliance Officer in July 2015. Ian came to HPSM after 10 years of service at Partnership HealthPlan of California and serving as corporate compliance officer at AlohaCare, a non-profit Medicaid plan in the State of Hawaii. In his prior roles he helped build compliance programs and expand product lines and service areas.

He has had extensive compliance experience with Medicare, Medi-Cal, and HIPAA, and is deeply committed to serving HPSM’s target audiences. Ian holds a Bachelor’s degree in political science and a Master's of Business Administration from UC Davis, and is certified in health care compliance by the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA).
