You have 100% paid dental coverage with $0 copays and $0 deductibles through HPSM Dental. This means you pay $0 for covered dental services like checkups, x-rays, cleanings, crowns and more! You can choose from more than 500 HPSM network dental providers depending on the services needed.
Regular dental visits are key to your oral health and overall wellness. Along with daily brushing and flossing, dental care helps prevent tooth decay (cavities), the single most common chronic disease. Without preventive care and treatment, tooth decay can cause mouth pain, infection and other health problems.
Covered dental services
There is no limit for covered, medically necessary dental services. Your dental provider can help pick the best treatment and determine which services you can get through HPSM Dental. Some of the services covered include:
- Dental exams and teeth cleanings every four to six months (depending on your risk for cavities)
- Orthodontics (braces) when medically necessary or correction is needed
- Emergency services as often as needed
You need dental checkups at least twice a year. With 100% covered dental benefits, you should see the dentist — even if your mouth looks fine and you are not in pain. Here’s why:
- Regular checkups let the dentist find and treat problems early — before they cause pain
- Taking care of your teeth helps protect you from oral infections that can cause or worsen chronic illnesses
- A bright, healthy smile can boost your confidence and self-esteem
There is no cost for your dental benefits, and getting started is easy. Here’s how:
1. Pick a dentist:
- Go to our online Provider Directory
- Click “Search” and enter your information in sections 1 and 2
- In section 3, on the right side of the new page, click on “Specialty” and choose “Pediatric Dentistry”
If you can’t get online or need help, call HPSM Dental at 650-616-1522.
2. Call the dentist you picked and schedule an appointment. Let them know your insurance is HPSM Dental.
3. Go to the dentist and bring your HPSM member ID card.
During the 30-to-45-minute dental visit:
- The dentist may give you a mouth exam that includes teeth, gums, jaws, bite and whether braces may be needed. The dentist may ask you about your diet.
- You may get x-rays to help look for problems.
- The dentist will talk to you about your oral health. When you are done, they will schedule your next appointment.
