by Mat ThomasPrescription medication benefits for HPSM Medi-Cal members have mostly been managed by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) through the Medi-Cal Rx program. However, HPSM still covers physician administered drugs (PADs). These are medications that providers give patients at an office or in a clinic setting. Some PADs need to be pre-approved by HPSM.
