Exercise Is Fun and Healthy For the Whole Family!

Exercise is any physical activity that gets the body moving. Regular exercise is important for keeping the body and mind healthy. Research shows it improves mood, sleep, attention, memory and children’s performance in school.

Use these tips to help you and your family stay active

  • Walk, bike, skate or scoot! Parks are a great place to exercise on foot or on wheels. Learn more about San Mateo County parks.
  • Play! Kids can climb and swing at the playground or enjoy a game of tag in your yard. If your child is six or older, they may want to join an organized sport team.
  • Dance to the music! Play your family’s favorite songs and move together to the beat! Or search online for free dancing games you can play together at home.
  • Stay safe! Be sure to use protective equipment, such as a helmet, during activities where there is a risk of injury.

Explore with your child’s primary care provider (PCP) what exercise would work best for your child.
