Is It HPSM or a Scam? Here’s How to Tell.

Digital and phone scams happen now more than ever before. People pretending to work for HPSM or other organizations use clever tricks to get your private data. Here’s the good news! You can avoid major financial loss and emotional stress by learning how to spot warning signs and prevent getting scammed.

If someone contacts you claiming to be from HPSM and you think it may be a scam, get their name and job title. Then call Member Services or the CareAdvantage Unit to make sure.

If someone contacts you claiming to be from HPSM, ask yourself:

How are they contacting me? HPSM will mostly contact you by mail. We rarely call on the phone, will only email you if you emailed us and will never contact you by text or social media.

What do they want me to do? HPSM will not ask you to change your data or make payments over the phone. You may be called to take a Health Risk Assessment Survey. Whenever you call HPSM, you will be asked personal questions only to confirm your identity. We also won’t ever pressure you to do anything right away.

What do they say will happen? HPSM will never threaten you with loss of coverage, account closure, legal action, arrest or similar penalties for refusing to give us your information.
