Vaccines Keep Your Child Safe

Vaccines (also called immunizations) protect your child against infectious illnesses. Your child needs many vaccines as they grow — most of them in their first year. Vaccines are also required to attend school.

  • Stay on schedule with your child’s vaccines. If your child has already missed a vaccine, they may still be able to get the vaccine. Talk with their primary care provider (PCP) about a catch-up vaccine schedule.
  • Learn more about vaccine recommendations for children up to six years old. This webpage also includes a link to vaccine schedule information for children seven years and older.
  • If your child is six or younger, track their vaccines with our “Baby Steps” guideTo get a print copy mailed to you, call the HPSM Health Promotion Unit at 650-616-2165.
