It is important to take your child for regular checkups — even if your child seems healthy. HPSM members get these checkups, also called well visits, at no cost.
At a well visit you can talk about your child’s health with their primary care provider (PCP) and get your questions answered. Their PCP can also share suggestions with you about keeping your child healthy.
During a well visit, the PCP will:
- Examine your child’s body and give them vaccines they need
- Track your child’s growth and development
- Do screenings based on your child’s age
- Refer your child to specialists if needed
Taking your child to regular well visits makes it easier to keep them healthy. Call your child’s PCP and schedule a well visit today! Learn more about well visits and what you should do if you do not know who your child’s PCP.
HPSM Medi-Cal members who are 12 years old and assigned to a San Mateo Medical Center Clinic will get a $25 gift card for going to their well visit.
Need a ride to your child’s well visit? HPSM’s Ride Benefit can help! See page 8 for details. The ride service does not provide car seats or boosters. Parents/caregivers must provide car seats/boosters as needed for the child. Learn more.
