Community-Based Adult Services (CBAS) is a health-focused daycare program that offers comprehensive onsite health, therapeutic and social services for adults with medical, cognitive and/or functional limitations. CBAS’s holistic, multidisciplinary team-based approach helps people live independently at home or with family and avoid unnecessary stays in long-term care facilities.
Eligible HPSM Medi-Cal and CareAdvantage members can attend any of the 10 CBAS centers we contract with in San Mateo, San Francisco and Santa Clara counties at no cost. CBAS centers provide valuable services and activities in one place, including:
- Trained staff to help with healthcare checks, medication management, and connection to social services and care coordination
- Group activities, games and events to social prevent isolation
- Access to physical, occupational, behavioral health and speech therapy services
- Well-balanced meals served onsite
- Training, resources and respite for family members and caregivers
CBAS participants must attend a center at least four hours per day to remain eligible. CBAS centers provide no-cost transportation.
