Earn Financial Incentives by Screening for Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a common disease that causes bones to become weak and break. It increases a person’s risk for fractures, which can lead to chronic pain, disability and decreased quality of life.

Screening for osteoporosis with a bone mineral density test can identify problems so patients can get treatment as soon as possible. Early intervention helps prevent falls, fractures and the need for complex hospital visits.

That’s why we need your help with increasing osteoporosis screening rates for HPSM members.

The United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends screening for osteoporosis in all women 65 years or older and postmenopausal women younger than 65 years who are at increased risk for an osteoporotic fracture. However, in 2024, only 57% of female HPSM CareAdvantage members age 65–75 years of age received at least one osteoporosis screening since turning 65.

You can receive financial incentives for osteoporosis management by enrolling in our Stellar Health program. Learn more about this incentive.
