Two New HPSM Initiatives “Double Down” on Cancer Screenings

Cancer screenings save lives and are critical to keeping our members healthy. They can help find abnormal cells or cancer early, even before symptoms appear. That’s why it is vital that you get your patients to come in when they’re due for screenings. We recently launched two cancer screening initiatives to help you do that.

Cancer Screening Incentive Program

CareAdvantage members who are due for breast or colorectal cancer screenings can get a $25 Target GiftCardTM for each screening they get. That means they can get two GiftCards worth $50 in total if they are due for and get both screenings. Once members complete a screening, a GiftCard will be shipped to the address they provided to HPSM. It should arrive within 90 days of when they got their screening. Learn more about this program

Exact Sciences Cologuard® Pilot Program

CareAdvantage members who are due for colorectal cancer screenings and assigned to San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) clinics will receive a Cologuard® colorectal cancer screening kit by mail at their home address. They will also get mailings that encourage them to complete the kit. Members who have questions about the kit can call a 24/7 patient support line to get answers. SMMC providers follow up with patients on results. For questions about this program, please email populationhealth@hpsm.org

In December 2023, we sent reminder letters to CareAdvantage and Medi-Cal members who were due for breast, cervical or colorectal cancer screenings encouraging them to schedule a visit with their provider to discuss cancer screenings. But we encourage you to reach out to your patients who are due for cancer screenings as well, and to let your CareAdvantage patients know they can get up to $50 in Target GiftCards when they get screened for breast and/or colorectal cancer.
