Provider Notifications

It takes a village to support expecting parents and their new baby with their birthing journey. Obstetricians, midwives, nurse practitioners, and other perinatal professionals are critical to a healthy beginning for many babies of HPSM parents.

HPSM is here to support providers with resources to enhance health outcomes. These services are available at no cost to perinatal members.

Encourage members to connect with doulas during and after pregnancy

Doulas provide emotional and physical support throughout the birthing journey. HPSM Medi-Cal, CareAdvantage and HealthWorx members can receive doula services during: 

• pregnancy
• labor and delivery (including stillbirth) 
• the postpartum period (1 year after pregnancy) 
• abortion or miscarriage 

Due to a standing recommendation, providers do not need to send a written recommendation or referral for members to receive doula services. Connect members directly to HPSM’s Provider Directory to find a list of contracted doulas to contact for their first visit. Learn more in HPSM’s Provider Manual under Section 6: Ancillary Services. 

Wellness Packages Through HPSM’s Baby+Me Program

Our Baby+Me program connects perinatal members to services and local resources during and after pregnancy.  Medi-Cal members can qualify for a $50 gift card for completing a timely visit with their obstetric provider.  

Well Baby Packages are offered to members who recently gave birth when they enroll in our Baby+Me program. Packages include a baby book, toothbrush as well as health tips and tools that will help members: 

• Connect to mental health services
• Select their baby’s PCP and dentist. 
• Follow the recommended childhood vaccine schedule from 0 to 6 years old. 
• Track their baby’s developmental progress. 
• Get preventative care for their baby by completing well visits and discussing growth milestones with their baby’s PCP at these visits.
